Kayak Tours

Marsh Creek Tour: Join us for a relaxed exploration of the rivers and creeks that wind through these sheltered, gorgeous and largely undeveloped marshlands! Depending on tide and wind, we'll explore waterways in Skidaway Island State Park, the Moon River, Shipyard Creek, or the Isle of Hope River and Freedom Creek. Lower tides limit where we can go a bit, but offer many chances to observe egrets and herons hunting on the mudflats and to listen to the oysters "pop". On higher tides we can paddle straight across the marsh!

 

We commonly see dolphin, a wide variety of wading birds, perhaps eagles, osprey, or even a sea turtle.

Ebenezer Creek tour: One of our favorite paddles is Ebenezer Creek, a blackwater creek tributary of the Savannah River about 35 minutes from downtown. 

 

Here ancient dwarf bald cypress with huge buttresses tower over highly reflective water and typical wildlife might include pileated woodpeckers, red-shouldered hawks, barred owls, swallow-tailed kites, many varieties of songbirds - and perhaps a gator. The current is very mild and the trees offer sunshade and windbreak. If the water is high, a paddle among the old-growth tupelo forest is a special treat.

Full Day Custom Tours 

Are you an intermediate or advanced paddler looking for more of a challenge? We can also create a custom, guided, full day 6-16 mile trip for your private group. We use NDK and P&H performance 16-17' sea kayaks for these tours. We love paddling out to Little Tybee, Wassaw or Ossabaw Islands, exploring our beautiful marsh creeks, and maybe going frontside to explore a pristine beach or play in the swell or surf. Tell us about your skills and interests!

$350 1-2 people, $125 each additional person, limit of 6 for a full day, 5-6 hour tour.

Custom Skills Instruction for Individuals or Small-groups is also available on demand. From beginner to advanced intermediate paddler, we're happy to help you take your skills to the next level while we explore some gorgeous places.

$150 per person for a 4 hour session, 1-2 people, $125 per person for a 4 hour session, 3-4 people. Discount available for long-term students: every 7th lesson is free!

Learn about various kinds of kayaks and other equipment, how to be efficient and safe on the water, learn how to plan around tides, weather, and currents, practice rescue skills, develop a solid roll, and expand your comfort zone to rough water and surf.

The protected waterways and marshes of the Georgia coast offer many beautiful and interesting areas to navigate by kayak. We tailor all trips to the interests and pace of your group and can easily make the paddling more or less challenging. We can accommodate groups of up to 10 in solo and tandem wide, stable recreational kayaks and 5 in performance sea kayaks.

All tours include a guide, kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and water bag for storage. We recommend that you wear layers of drip-dry clothing and sturdy water sandals or old tennis shoes - no flip flops. We have limited sizes available for loan.
